Plants are fabulous creatures. Each one is a living work of art, that deserves a prominent place in your home. Which of the following delights will you display?
The strength and beauty of Calathea Orbifolia lies in its enormous, fantastically patterned leaves. Listen carefully and you will hear them rustle as they close at night. The plant's round shape and soft appearance make it perfect for the bedroom or a relaxing spot in the living room.
The large leaves of Anthurium Clarinervium have a pattern that's so entrancing, you'll find it difficult to tear your gaze away. It’s a showstopper of a plant that would make a wonderful statement in any hallway.
The leaves of Calathea Medallion also feature an amazing pattern — but that’s not all. The undersides of the leaves have a contrasting magenta colour that you can see clearly when the leaves fold upwards in the evening. The dual tones work well as a contrast in an airy, white-tiled bathroom.
Monstera Monkey Mask
A sibling of the well-known Monstera deliciosa, the Monstera Monkey Mask's official name is Monstera Adansonii. This deep green plant also boasts Swiss cheese-like holes, but its leaves have far more perforations. A playful feature plant, it looks brilliant on a shelf or hanging container.
This cactus disguised as a hanging plant is rather unusual. The plant is often appreciated from a distance, because it appears to be packed with spikes, but don’t worry, Rhipsalis Horrida isn’t prickly. Hang it in your kitchen, to keep you company while you cook.
The Polkadot Begonia is more eye-catching than most. As if a blaze of pinkish-red on the underside of this plant was not enough, its leaves have distinctive shapes and silver spots too. This ornamental number will look perfect on a dressing table or sideboard.
A beautiful stylish shape with a spotless reputation: ZZ plant or Zamioculcas zamiifolia is a triumph of nature. Place this in a feature pot for a sculptural statement.
This plant is known for its remarkable flowers: it's as if brightly coloured birds birds of paradise or huge orange and purple butterflies have alighted on your houseplant. Strelitzia is a beautiful plant to keep in your bedroom, as it brings memories of holidays in jungle paradises with it.
This plant likes to be noticed. With tall spotted stems, bearing leaves that resemble elephant ears, Alocasia Zebrina steals the show. Another plant that’s excellent for a hallway, place it in a big pot and watch it grow and grow.
No orchid pouts as beautifully as Paphiopedilum. The plant, also known as Lady Slipper, has graceful petals that seem to come straight out of a fairytale. Place this on a side table, out of direct sunlight, and enjoy its beautiful flowers.
