Yucca DIY tip: copper plant stand

This will let your Yucca shine

The Yucca, the tough Houseplant for January, will shine even more brightly in this copper plant stand. You can make it yourself with this step-by-step guide.

This is what you need: 

  • 8 pieces of copper (water) pipe: 4 for the legs, 2 for the long side and 2 for the top side

  • 4 x 45° corner joints

  • 4 x T joints

  • Construction adhesive

  • Small pipe cutter

  • Tape measure

  • Pencil

  • 3 Yuccas

  • 3 Plant pots, such as nicely weathered vintage terracotta pots

This is how you make it:

Step 1

Measure the pieces of copper. Ensure that the frame doesn’t get too big; it needs to be smaller than the edges of the pots but large enough to fit the pots. Cut the pieces of copper pipe with the pipe cutter.

Step 2

Make a rectangle, which rests on the 4 legs, with the pieces of pipe, the corners and the T joints. Glue the pieces together with construction adhesive and let it dry thoroughly.

Step 3

Plant the Yuccas in the vintage terracotta pots and hang them in the construction. If there are holes in the bottom of the pots, it will be easier to water the plants on the draining board so that the water can drain away.
