DIY: decorate tea lights with Calathea

Let those leaves shine

Normally we'd advise against cutting the leaves off a healthy Calathea. But when it comes to art, it's worth the sacrifice. Each leaf you cut will be celebrated individually, and you'll appreciate your plant even more. Make a few well-placed cuts for this tea light project.

  • Arrange five leaves in a fan of four Calathea Tassmania leaves and one Calathea lancifolia leaf.

  • Press them with the front facing against the glass.

  • Secure with the leather lace.

  • Do this again for the second tea light

    .

  • Light the candles and enjoy the beautiful shadowplay as the flickering light is filtered through the leaves.
