Avoid the blues with plants in your home

Fix your winter blues with plenty of greenery

The third Monday in January has been declared the most depressing day of the year. People complain about weeks that just drag on, an empty bank account, depressing weather and gloomy faces. But that won’t bother you at all this year - the collection of plants in your home will ensure that both your home and your mood are bursting with energy and enthusiasm.

THE GREEN FACTS
Feelings that you don’t need, like stress and negative moods, can easily be diminished if you work or live in a green environment. Your ability to concentrate and your memory also improve considerably with houseplants around you. Not only do things look a lot more lively, but we also feel happier. And it’s not just us saying that: there are lots of studies into the positive effect of plants on humans. Wow, thanks plant! So what are you waiting for?

DON’T GET BLUE - GO GREEN

Instead of feeling blue this Monday, we’re going to get stuck in and go green. Off to the garden centre or the local florist around the corner for a couple of new sources of joy. You can opt for plants that are known for vigorously purifying the air, like the pilea, Boston fern and Spatiphyllum. Or for something more like an indoor tree like the Kentia palm, monstera or yucca. There’s no such thing as an overdose of plants or too much happiness, so get going and beat the blues with plenty of greenery.
