Home fragrance with plants on the hob

Welcome spring with a plant elixir

Now that spring is here, it’s high time to bring some freshness into your home. You can make the scent of spring yourself in a saucepan! Place it on the hob, follow the instructions below and fill your home with the fragrance of the season.

You will need:

  • 2 to 3 cups of water

  • 3 lemons, cut into slices

  • A couple of sprigs of rosemary

  • Possibly wooden (lolly) sticks

How to make it

Mix all the ingredients in the saucepan on a low heat. Stir occasionally, and leave to simmer thoroughly. The aromas will quickly fill the kitchen and the rest of the house. If you want the fragrance to steal the spring show on other floors as well, fill small glasses with your home-made elixir or dip the wooden (lolly) sticks in the brew and place them in a shot glass or vase in the bathroom or toilet, for example.

Did you know, incidentally, that there are plants with flowers that smell of chocolate fondant? Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocolate' is a member of the Asteraceae family and smells like your favourite dessert. But it’s best not to actually eat the petals - that’s not what they’re intended for.
