Wedding trend: Foliage chair decorations

Prettify your wedding seating with swags, circlets and freeform foliage

Hanging decorations from the back of the bride and groom’s chairs has become a rising trend at weddings. And why stop with the happy couple? Wedding guests’ chairs look great adorned with simple decorations, too (just make sure the bride’s is extra special!).

Foliage makes a cool and contemporary alternative to flowers – and is versatile enough to suit all weddings, from urban hipster to rustic bohemian.

Swags

A swag for foliage draped over the back of a chair sets an elegant scene. Try Eucalyptus with its soft grey tones, loosely tied to the back of the chair with a lace ribbon offers a laid back look for a bohemian wedding.

Wreaths

For a more structured look, hang a simple wreath from the back of each chair with ribbon. For a rustic touch, add ‘Mr’ & ‘Mrs’ hessian bunting flags to the bride and groom’s chairs. In keeping with the theme, circlets of rosemary tied with luggage labels can be used as place settings for the guests.

Roses

Add a touch of delicate colour to your ribbons and foliage with a single pink peony or rose attached to one end of the swag, at the top of the chair.

Bottles

Hang a vintage bottle or jar from each seat with twine or ribbon and fill with a handful of foliage, herbs and flowers for a feast not only for the eyes but for the nose too!
