The Begonia, Houseplant of the month of October, might make you think of happiness in a pot, you’re not wrong. But now imagine a combination of this houseplant with a bicycle inner tube, what do you get? A cool, streetwise Begonia. Below you will find out what you need and a step-by-step guide on how to make this cool plant pot.

This is what you need: 

  • One or more Begonias in a plastic pot

  • The same number of bicycle inner tubes

  • Strong tape

  • Scissors

Step 1

Cut the inner tube along the length, through the middle, so that you are left with two halves.

Step 2

Take the Begonia carefully out of the pot, being careful not to damage the roots. Take the part of the inner tube where the valve is attached to and cut it off. Start by sticking the one end of this piece of inner tube onto the pot with the tape.

Step 3

Wind the piece of inner tube around the pot and stick the end in place with tape. Now take the other half of the bicycle tyre, which is still completely circular and intact. Wrap this around the pot as well, as if it was a large elastic band. The last piece that you wrap around the pot will be really tight and will ensure that everything stays secure.

Place your Begonia back inside, and your project is finished!
