EXPOSÉ #21: CAKE ATELIER AMSTERDAM

Flowers that are almost real

We are proud to present Exposé, a series of portraits in which we introduce you to special, prominent people who have something to do with flowers and/or plants. In Edition #21 we shine the spotlight on Natasja Sadi from Amsterdam, a lady who does not like to be put in a box. She used to make custom-made wedding dresses, but now people mainly know her as a floral patissier by the name Cake Atelier Amsterdam.

Her (wedding) cakes can be easily recognised by their high ' too good to eat’ quality. The inspiration she gets from the works of Dutch Masters can be seen in her edible works of art. The flowers on her delicacies are all made of sugar. And just like the paintings, these sugar flowers look so lifelike.

LOOK, EAT, MARRY

In our full interview with the creative owner of Cake Atelier Amsterdam, we get an inspiring insight into the world of sugar flowers. We go to the market to buy flowers and create a still life in a Delft blue vase. This bouquet is the model for the final cake. We also see how the cake from Cake Atelier Amsterdam was used for a Vogue Netherlands photoshoot. Step into the sweet world of Natasja Sadi and check out our latest Exposé video.
