Exposé #08: Berlin botanical garden

We are proud to present Exposé: a series of portraits in which we introduce you to unusual trendsetting people who have a ‘thing’ for flowers and/or plants. This time in Exposé #08: Dr. Nils Köster talk about the botanical garden in Berlin.

A brief introduction: Dr. Nils Köster takes us around Europe’s largest botanical garden. Nils determines which plants remain behind the scenes for scientific purposes, and which plants can entertain the public with their elegant beauty and relaxed look. He particularly enjoys the diversity. He is still constantly discovering new things about the inexhaustible subject of plants.

The botanical garden in Berlin contains some 20,000 exceptional plants, and by that, we do mean truly exceptional plants. The garden is laid out like a map of the world, and over the course of 335 years has grown into a fantastic place for both leisure and research, where you can enjoy nature, see the most unusual plant species and travel around the globe.

If you would like to find out more about Dr. Nils Köster, who literally have the world of plants at their feet, then watch the video below.

And now you would probably like to be surrounded by plants yourself. So we have described how you can transform your garden into a mini botanical garden. Take a look at the article about a botanical garden at home. If you find this too drastic in terms of time and effort, then how about a botanical print in your home - from a poster to wallpaper. You can read about the origin of the prints here. You can also pack your suitcase and take a tour of the most exceptional botanical gardens, from the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew (in London) to I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff in Italy. They’re all unmissable! Look here for more info.
