Exposé #05: Hans and Paul van Holstein

We are proud to present Exposé: a series of portraits in which we introduce you to unusual trendsetters involved with flowers and/or plants. This time in Exposé #05: Hans and Paul van Holstein.

A brief introduction: Hans and Paul grew up amidst flowers. They are part of the youngest generation of gerbera breeders and growers at Holstein Flowers, a family business founded in 1946. A Holstein brother, sister, father, mother, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, brother-in-law, granny, grandpa, sister-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law is involved at every stage, from breeding the gerberas to packing them. As you can imagine, there are decades of skill involved.

The knowledge of the past is still greatly used today. Paul and Hans supplement it with the very latest techniques and technologies. You won’t see them picking flowers themselves every day, but they naturally have complete mastery of this technique as well. It’s bound to be in their genes.
