A chandelier of plants

Bocci lit up the Chelsea Flower Show

One of the most intriguing plant installations at the RHS Chelsea Flower show wasn't found in a garden or the Grand Pavillion, but was hung from the ceiling next to one of the on-site restaurants. The piece was Bocci's 38 and it combined 110 small plants in 24 pendants hanging from above.

The design

The installation is made of spheres of glass that house lighting elements, earth and succulents. Copper tubing keeps all the spheres together and helps to create a contemporary, industrial look.

Recreate the look

Whilst the piece isn't available to buy, there are plenty of ways it can inspire plant design in the home. Instead of the chandelier, use Sky Planters to hang plants from above and combine with a variety of lights or feature the Bucketlight from Roderick Vos as an alternative. If you don't want to use soil, then airplants are always a great alternative to feature plants in unexpected locations!
