Exposé #13: Katie Scott

We’re proud to present Exposé, a series of portraits in which we introduce you to remarkable trend-setters who are involved with flowers and/or plants. This time in Exposé #13: we feature illustrator Katie Scott from London, United Kingdom.

A brief introduction: when Katie was 17 and went to art school, she discovered that illustration was utterly ‘her thing’. She particularly liked drawing flowers, plants and animals. She regularly tried to illustrate other subjects, but the appeal of flora and fauna was too great. Her drawings take you into a fantastic botanical world which - as she says herself - is even a little discombobulating. Her distinctive style is so eye-catching that she now works for clients such as the New York Times, Urban Outfitters and Pernod Ricard. And we can also reveal that there is a brilliant collaboration in prospect with no less than ‘flower artist’ Azuma Makoto. Meet the young, modest but ever so talented Katie in the video below.

Lots more Katie

Katie has published the fantastic book Botanicum with Katie Willis.  It’s an impressive coffee table book bursting with technical knowledge and magnificent illustrations. You can read more about the book here. And Katie shares her three favourite plants here. They are - not entirely unexpectedly - a bit strange, but really cute.
